Founded in 2009 by Dan Spalding, a seasoned high-tech communications veteran, Spalding Communications was formed with the support and direction of key Silicon Valley VCs to offer their portfolio companies a specialized communications service. Through a series of successful joint projects, Liz Youngs, another seasoned communications veteran, joined the team to help expand the company and bring additional services to our high tech clients. Together Dan and Liz have developed a finely-tuned PR machine that benefits every client.
In addition, Spalding Communications has specialized relationships with top tech freelance writers and skilled marketers to add to client projects upon request.
Clients have ranged from more established companies (such as Palo Alto Networks, Centrify and VSS Monitoring) to stealth startups Spalding Communications has launched and helped grow (such as AppDynamics later acquired by Cisco, CloudPassage and Demisto later acquired by Palo Alto Networks).
Dan Spalding
Based in Silicon Valley, Dan Spalding is an accomplished communications professional with more than 25 years of corporate communications and public relations experience. He founded Spalding Communications in 2009 with first clients Palo Alto Networks, Agito Networks (acquired by ShoreTel) and Avenda Systems (acquired by Aruba Networks). Since then he has worked with more than 40 companies across the United States and internationally, many of which have also been acquired. Dan has a long track record of successfully growing emerging startup companies, resulting in favorable exits and growth.
Prior to founding Spalding Communications, Dan had a proven track record of more than 15 years serving as the corporate communications lead for a number of successful Silicon Valley companies in a variety of industries, including Neoteris (acquired by NetScreen, ultimately acquired by Juniper Networks), Port Authority Technologies (acquired by Websense), Securent (acquired by Cisco), Proxim and Centigram (acquired by ADC Telecommunications).
Dan began his career in corporate communications at FMC Corporation. He attended Santa Clara University, earning both his MBA in Marketing and BA in Communication.
Liz Youngs
Liz Youngs is a seasoned PR professional, with more than 20 years of experience serving clients in the cloud computing, cybersecurity, big data, telecom, enterprise networking, artificial intelligence, IoT, machine learning, and wireless arenas; with vertical markets including heath care, education, financial services, utilities, government, and others.
Liz has been with Spalding Communications for the past 7 years focusing on media, awards, speaking, and end-user customer relations. Previous client projects include: Zscaler, Cisco, BEA Systems, Google, GuardianEdge Security, NFR Security, Red Seal, Imperium, WeatherBug, EducationSuperHighway, Curriculum Associates, Codian, Venafi, Clever, Credit Sesame, M86, SecurePipe, Greenway Medical, Gigamon, and many others.
Early in her career, Liz held senior positions in marketing for several telecom companies including Newbridge Networks, MITEL and MITEL Datacom. Liz has been instrumental in companies gaining recognition through the IPO process, funding activities and several acquisitions.
Liz studied business and marketing at Radford University.
